What is the Battle of the Dylan Cover Bands?

The battle is an annual competition of artists around the world who perform the songs of singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. The Battle is entirely online - there's no physical event that you have to attend. You just upload your song, and we'll take it from there! Anyone, pro or amateur, can submit an entry for the Battle of the Dylan Cover Bands providing you meet the following requirements: (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!)
  1. You are performing a song that was written by Bob Dylan. (Sorry, no covers of Dylan covers)
  2. You have a professional quality recording of your performance. It doesn't need to be recorded in a studio, but should sound like it was. For recording on a computer, the does a pretty good job at that.
  3. Your recording must be submitted in MP3 format with a bit rate no lower than 128kbps/Stereo (though preferably higher). NO OTHER FILE FORMAT WILL BE ACCEPTED!
  4. MP3s should be properly named in the format Artist Name - Song Title.mp3.
    For example "The Jim Joneses - Blowin In The Wind.mp3"
  5. You may only submit one (1) song per band/artist, so make sure it's your best.
  6. If you are a soloist who is also a band member, you may submit TWO (2) entries maximum, one as a soloist and one as the band.
  7. There is an entrance fee of $8 USD to offset the cost of hosting & managing the Battle. (Paypal/credit-card or mailed money order. Your entry fee also gets you access to a secret area of the website)
  8. If you were a contestent in a previous year's Battle, you are welcome to submit the same song, provided you re-submit your entry & fee and your recording adheres to all this year's rules including quality requirements (above).
  9. All entries must be submitted on or before October 1st, 2011 (2011/10/01).
How does the Battle work?
  1. All entries will undergo an "audition round" of voting by our judges, with songs earning 2/3 majority vote proceeding on to the tournament.
  2. All remaining entries will be placed in a tournament-style competition, matched up against competing entries
  3. While DylanRadio.com users will get to vote for thier favourites, the final results will be determined by our hand-picked panel of judges.
  4. Our three judges ARE human beings, however, so you should promote yourself and get as many votes as possible as it may sway some opinions!
  5. At the end of the competition, the glorious victors will be unvieled, but frankly, all the competitors win promotion and exposure to the Dylan fan community just by being a part of the Battle.

  2. The great thing about the Battle of the Dylan Cover Bands is that there are NO LOSERS! All competitiors recieve promotional airplay thoughout the Battle as well regular airplay in the future as a Dylan cover in the songpool. Being a part of DylanRadio.com means tapping into a unique, worldwide community of Dylan fans.
  3. The winner will recieve focused promotion on both the DylanRadio.com which includes:
    broadcast, the website, DylanRadio.com's Twitter and Facebook page
  4. This promotion includes a feature news article here on the the website, including a selection of other works by the winning artist
  5. Runners up will also recieve honerable mention in a news posting, highlighting their work.
