Post Best Bob Voice Reply with quote
It is a very difficult choice to pick the best of Bob. He and his music are ever evolving and changing.

I love Baby Bob, the early unwashed phenominon.

I love Desire Bob, with hHs experience and Sis lovely Scarlet right beside Him.

Have to Love the voice of activist Bob in anything He sings with definite purpose and intent. Hurricane, Deportees, Davey Moore, all different and all very poignant, heartfelt and angry.

I love Bob's voice with others, like Norah Jones, when he is aware of their talents and showing in his.

If I ever get the chance, I am sure I would love Bob singing in the shower.

If he is singing it is BEST!

I left out one of my favorites, sorry Bob.

I loved Bob's vocal and instrumental performance last year in Berkeley and L.A. and in Tulsa because Bob is still Bob and still in it for the music that has and continues to be His true passion and his purpose.

I am sure that this time around, I will love Bob's performance for everything it is and that is more than enough. Always...

Ok... in (more or less) chronological order:

1. House of the rising sun
2. Like a rolling stone (Live 1966 Machester)
3. One more cup of coffee
4. Changing of the guards
5. Every grain of sand
6. Dark eyes
7. Man in the long black coat
8. Most of the time
9. Po' Boy
10. Tonight I'll be staying here with you (Live 1975)

My criteria were not always necessarily 'the best vocal' in any objective terms, but also how the vocal fits the music and the spirit of the song as I perceive it.

For me, the 4 best are:

1) The Blonde on Blonde album (especially 'I Want You', and 'Just Like A Woman')

2) Real Live (especially 'License to Kill', 'It Ain't Me, Babe', and 'Tangled Up in Blue', but really I love the whole entire album)

3) The era right around Street Legal, Desire, Hard Rain, etc. . .(especially 'Shelter From the Storm' and 'Maggie's Farm' from 'Hard Rain', as well as 'Mr. Tambourine Man' from the 1975 Live Bootleg (Rolling Thunder) album).

4) MTV Unplugged (I like this whole entire album, but especially like his voice on songs like Desolation Row, and John Brown, etc. . .)

But it goes without saying that selecting a favorite of his is close to impossible, of course Cool

My personal favorite Bobs' vocal performance has always been the album version of "Desolation Row".
I think he sings that one perfectly.
