dear bob, this is a new song i'm working on.. to the tune of union maid..

note: the next verse's will be written by the court..
i had to spend 5 hours in jail . dec .23rd friday
to write this in my defense..people always sez to me ,i'm better than bob...
happy new year!

key of D 1st verse - i was singing in the Chicago subways-
spreading Christmas cheer- all the folks liked it-
as they tipped me pretty fair- now the law and
the gun thug hoodlums- said, i had to move away from there-

{ refrain o! they can't scare me I'm sticking to the 1st amendment
the 1st amendment - o! they can't scare me without no permit
without no permit- yes! its Christmas in jail for singing on the cta - }

2nd verse - now the criminals on wall street- who robbed people
for millions a year-are free to go roaming-liked they
never done nothing here- by stealing and gambling away
that hard working mans beer -

3rd verse - now we all know Rudolf the red nosed reindeer-
how all the reindeer's tried to steal away his Christmas cheer-
this old folksinger they threw-in jail for Christmas-
while all the copper boss thugs- heckled and jeered-

4th verse- give me liberty or give me death- cried,old Nathanael Greene
all the hoodlums on wall st. are free to go roaming-
while they arrested this folk singer-singing for some green-
the cops said, he just a tramp- singing on the street

made a mistake i went to research. nathaniel green he was an american revolutionary genral
i rewrote the 4th verse( cried ,patrick henry singing from a tree..)

so he handed down the sentence -saying, no good deed goes unpunished-
extending mercy there- and all the tramps were free to go-
giving them all time served-

now that the court has been adjourned-
how the rich and mighty have no time for some folk singer
-to give a cup of coffee or a dime-
and they will lock you up just for being poor-
but hey! -shouldn't it be Christmas everyday all year-
