Here comes the story of The Hurricane…

Hurricane Teddy is expected to make landfall here in Nova Scotia on Tuesday afternoon, and while it’s not expected to be as severe as Dorian was last year, there’s still a possibility that high winds may cause wide-spread power outages that could impact DylanRadio’s broadcast.

I’ll do my best to keep the music playing, and will keep you posted about any problems right here, as well as on Facebook & Twitter.

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: So far, Teddy has been very forgiving. We’ve seen heavy rain and are expecting some high winds today. but Northwestern Nova Scotia has been relatively calm, and for that we are VERY THANKFUL!

Hat in Hand… AGAIN :(

This has been a very frustrating few months with the pandemic, moving servers, hardware failures and all the associate costs. You folks have gone above & beyond with your support… and I feel like an absolute ass posting this, but we’ve hit another small snag. Having had to replace hardware in a hurry to keep the station running, we’re short on this months primary internet bill due on the 28th.

There’s still more hardware work to be done, and we’ll likely do a special fundraiser in the winter, but we have an immediate need for $180 to cover that net bill. I’m sorry to even ask for your help again… I wish I had the money to just eat that bill myself, but I don’t. These extra costs these past few months have been very frustrating for us all.

Again, thank you for your support & your constant encouragement all these years, especially during this difficult time. As always, only donate what you won’t miss… I know what a tight budget feels like, and I don’t want anyone else to go through that. If you CAN help, click here to donate via PayPal.

*sigh* Can 2020 be over already?

Server Woes….

I apologize for the downtime over the weekend. I’m not sure of the cause – pandemic restrictions or something else – but the the hosting location has become very unreliable and a power-loss took down the primary server. Even though it’s in an industrial park, the power grid and internet connections seem to be having issues, so I’ve spent the past 2 days relocating the server while running the station from a backup.

I think I have everything restored, but the primary broadcast server suffered a failure, so I’m still running from the backup server. I’m currently repairing the machine, but it may be time to have another server-fundraiser in the near future, as this one is showing it’s age and experiencing more frequent errors. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, let me know if you come across anything still broken (email: dj@dylanradio.com )
